Rátkay Endre

Rátkay Endre, alias Átlósutcai, számos verseskönyv (és szájról szájra kelő anekdota) szereplője, akinek festészete jó másfél évtizeden át kizárólag ugyanezen verseskönyvek borítójaként keltett általános álmélkodást, amikor is végezetül megnyílt múzeumi profán kápolnája.(Rátkay-Átlók Galéria: www.ratkay.hu)

Rátkay Endre (1928-2011). A Képzőművészeti Főiskolán Barcsay Jenő kedves tanítványa. A fiatal Rátkay 1960-tól, megalakulásától  az ÁTLÓK tagja.

A trecento-quattrocento, illetve a XX. századi avantgárd (elsősorban a szürrealizmus) szintézisét valló ÁTLÓK (Rátkay mellett Kárpáti Kamil, Csillag Tibor, Gaál Imre, Juhász Sándor, Czétényi Vilmos).

A tartományi kultuszminiszter kérte, hogy települjön át Rómába a Via Marguttára (Tóth Imre – Amerigo Tot – szobrászművész halála óta műterme ugyanis kifejezetten üres, és állaga lakatlanságából kifolyólag egyre romlik), mire Bandi Dante XIII. sz-i nyelvén festette le a süllyedő talajú egykori soroksári köztisztasági fürdő helyén létesült műtermének délolaszosan repedezett falait, tetőablakának a norvég fjordokat utánzó jégvirágburjánzását, mellyel figyelmes hazája télről télre megajándékozza. Ekkor vendéglátói – nyilván a XIII. sz-i nyelv félreértése miatt – belátták, hogy a Via Margutta nem mérhető össze Soroksár fényűzésével. (Kárpáti Kamil Összes versei – jegyzeteiből)

„A jelenkori magyar festészet állócsillagai között is különleges hely illeti meg Rátkay Endre festőművészt, akinek munkássága bemutatása nélkül nem lehetne megírni a jelenkori magyar művészet történetét”…mondta róla Bereczky Loránd művészettörténész, a Magyar Nemzeti Galéria főigazgatója a Rátkay-Átlók Galéria pesterzsébeti megnyitóján, 2006-ban.

Rátkay’s art

He was Barcsay’s favourite student at the University of fine Arts. Young Rátkay was one of the founders of Átlók. (Rátkay-Átlók Gallery: www.ratkay.hu)

The Átlók confessed the synthesis of trecento-quatrocento and the modern avantgarde (other members were: Kamil Kárpáti, Tibor Csillag, Imre Gaál, Sándor Juhász, Vilmos Czétényi.) . After Imre Gaál ’s death in 1964 Rátkay lived a private life in his atelier.

“It’s true, that in Bolzano he slept in a prince’s bed, ate a prince’s dinner. ( He had to have his leaky boots repaired for this occassion.) When the provincial minister of culture asked him to move and settle down in Rome, on the Via Marguetta.( Imre Tóth (Amerigo Tot) sculptor’s atelier was empty and its state was going to worse from bad after the artist’s death), Bandi described in Dante-esquestyle his atelier built up on the place of the former scavengery bath at Soroksár with its walls creviced in a South-Italian style, frostwork (a nice present of his hometown year by year) flourishing on the roof windows like norvegian fjords. Therefore his inviters admitted - probably because of the misunderstanding of the 13th century language – that Soroksár’s luxury couldn’t be matched with Via Marguetta’s .” (Notes of Kamil Kárpáti in his Collected poems)

„Among the present fine art’s standing stars Endre Rátkay the painter must have a special place, because without knowing his works the History of Contemporary art couldn’t be showed,” said Lóránd Bereczky art historian director ofthe National Gallery at the opening of Rátkay-Átlók Galery, Pesterzsébet 2006.

Endre Rátkay (1928-2011)

Pittore.
